Odion Ighalo to miss Man Utd training camp in Spain due to Coronavirus rules

Manchester United new boy Odion Ighalo has been left out of the club's Spanish training camp in Marbella with the club wary about potential changes which could see border restrictions tighten.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the deadline Day signing from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua will not travel to Spain.

After discussions over the potential risks involved with taking the new arrival abroad, United chiefs have decided that the former Watford star should stay behind.

United are wary over border regulations relating to the potential spread of the Coronavirus, and the potential for rules changes which could see border restrictions tighten on travellers who have been in China within the last 14 days.

As such, they are unwilling to risk potential complications when they return from Spain next week.

Instead, Ighalo, 30, will remain in Manchester to work on a personal training programme, as he looks to step up his fitness ahead of a potential Premier League debut against Chelsea on February 17.

“Odion will stay in Manchester, because he arrived from China in the last 14 days,“ said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

”Because of the situation in China, we're not sure if he'd be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again, so he's staying here working with a personal coach, individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well. That's a plus.

“Of course he might have liked to have come with the players and got to know them, but the risk [of potential border restrictions tightening], we don’t want to take that."

Three other players - Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Lee Grant - have not travelled either.

Messi gives update on threat to leave Barcelona

Lionel Messi intends to stay at Barcelona despite this week’s public row with sporting director Eric Abidal. Sources close to the 32-year-old have told Sky Sports that he is not thinking of leaving the Nou Camp this summer and remains determined to see out his current contract at the very least.

Messi’s deal runs until 2021 and he is open to discussing an extension, although the forward is in no rush and would prefer to do so on a rolling year-by-year basis.

Barcelona, however, would want to talk about another multi-year deal and hope to sit down with Messi’s father and agent Jorge in the upcoming months.

Although the spat with Abidal has provoked reports in England, Italy, France and even Argentina that Messi could move to one of these countries, there has been scarcely any mention in Spain’s top publications that a summer departure is on the cards.

Sky Sports News has been told that, as captain, Messi felt compelled to speak out in defence of himself and the team, while also wanting to highlight that he does not call the shots at the club, and that he feels public criticism from internal staff is not constructive.

Man Utd Cut Down Pogba's Asking Price In Order To Offload Him - Sports

PAUL POGBA has been given the green light to leave Manchester United. And the fed-up Old Trafford hierarchy are now ready to sell him for £150million.

They would have let him go last summer but a fee of £180m put off Real Madrid and Juventus.

Now Pogba, 26, and his agent Mino Raiola have been told he can leave at the end of the season as long as their demands are met.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the board believe it is best to part ways.

While Pogba does not believe he can win titles or the Champions League at United during what should be the prime of his career.

Agent Raiola has also ruffled Old Trafford figures with disparaging comments about the club.

United now accept the circus surrounding the French World Cup winner is having a detrimental effect on boss Solskjaer’s plans going forward — especially as he aims to build a young side committed to the club.

Pogba has made only eight appearances for the club this season due to an ankle injury.

When he rejoined United from Juventus in August 2016 he was the then world record £89m buy.

Pogba has since enjoyed glory at Russia 2018 and United want a fee which reflects that.

He began his career at United before Sir Alex Ferguson let him go over a contractual dispute.

But United bought him back after he helped Juve to four Serie A titles.

Pogba’s return, though, has been marred by mixed form and injuries and last summer he expressed a desire for a new challenge.

Now he has been told that can happen — if the price is right.

FIFA boss wants African Cup of Nations every four years and not two years

FIFA boss Gianni Infantino told African football leaders on Saturday that he wants their continental Cup of Nations to be played every four years as part of a package of reforms designed to lift “African football to the top of the world”.

Infantino also told a seminar in Rabat attended by delegates from each of the Confederation of African Football’s 54 member associations, that he wanted new stadiums in every member state and had earmarked $1 billion to finance the ambitious program.

The Africa Cup of Nations is currently staged every two years, which makes it unpopular with European clubs.

“What I’m asking you, and it’s your decision, is to discuss and consider moving to a Nations Cup every four years,” Infantino said.

He said he wanted to “revolutionise African football”.

“Pele once said that an African team would win the World Cup, but this hasn’t happened and it seems we are not making progress.

Today must be the day we turn that page” Infantino said.

“Our objective must be to project African football to the top of the world,” he said.

He said FIFA was “elaborating a proposal to mobilise $1bn.” “In the countries where there is

already at least one very good stadium, the investments can be done in other infrastructures,” he said.

C.Ronaldo Splash A Whooping £615,000 about (N301million) for the engagement ring.

Cristiano Ronaldo is not one to shy away from flaunting it if he has got it. The Real Madrid forward who is set to partake in another UEFA Champions league final after his team hit the final edging out Bayern Munich Tuesday, is equally set to walk his long time girl friend Georgina Rodriguez to the altar with actual date still under rap.

The Portuguese forward in the mean time has reportedly doled out a whooping £615,000 (Six hundred and fifteen thousand pounds) about (N301million) for the engagement ring.

Neither has officially confirmed that they’ve taken a big step forward in their relationship, having now been together quite some time as well as having had a child together.

Rodriguez is regularly snapped on Instagram looking after Ronaldo’s children, and so the couple seems very tight and very much planning a long future together.

According to The Sun, speculation was rife following a photo which appeared to show Rodriguez wearing an engagement ring, they’ve suggested that they’ve found the Cartier ring she was wearing and it may have cost the Portuguese superstar no less than a staggering £615,000.

Her social media following went crazy after the short video was posted on Instagram stories, sparking huge rumours that the pair are planning to tie the knot at some stage.

With Real Madrid booking their place in the Champions League final, coupled with his participation at the World Cup in

Russia this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not Ronaldo is planning to take time out of his busy schedule and wed Rodriguez later this summer.

Ronaldo has four kids with Cristiano Jr and his two one-year old twins Eva Maria and Mateo previously born to surrogate mothers. Georgina Rodriguez recently gave birth to their first daughter together.

Ronaldo was once quoted as saying he would love to have seven kids and seven Ballon d’or trophies.

Arsene Wenger Reveals Real Reason He Is Standing Down As Arsenal Boss

Arsene Wenger revealed he stood down for the good of Arsenal’s image around the world. Wenger’s recent years have been beset by fan protests, unrest and supporters staying away because of disappointing results.

Gunners boss Wenger, who will leave at the end of the season after 22 years, admitted he was “hurt” by the supporters but also said it was damaging the club’s proud image.

Wenger said: “I was not tired. But I believe this club is respected all over the world, much more than in England. Our fans did not give the image of unity at the club I want at the club all over the world, that was hurtful.

“Because I feel the club is respected and overall the image we gave of our club is not what it is and not what I like.

“I feel that this club has a fantastic image and for me that is absolutely vital. We can speak and speak and speak but sport is about winning and losing and you have to accept you will lose games, even when I am not here anymore.

“But it is as well about something bigger than just winning or losing and for me that was always a worry: how the club was perceived worldwide, for kids playing in Africa, China and America and the dreams it can create for young children who want to play football and all our clubs have a responsibility for that.

“I am not resentful land I do not want to make stupid headlines. I am not resentful with the fans. I just feel that if my personality is in the way of what I think our club is, for me that is more important than me staying.

“That is all I want to say. It is nothing to do with the fans. The fans were not happy and I can understand that and I have to live with that and I can accept that.”

Wenger was thankful for the tributes after his decision to stand down - and joked he now knows what will be said at his funeral.

"See How Much The Super Eagles Will Receive If They Win The World Cup" - Pinnick

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has said that the Super Eagles players could pocket a sum of $24 million if they play in the final of the 2018 World Cup.

Pinnick told newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday during a parley that the money was part of the agreement reached with the players to share 50-50 if they reach the final or win the World Cup.

“I don’t put players under pressure. Pressure can be put on them unconsciously because we are creating enabling environment for them.

“If for example we don’t have money to prepare them, they can now relax but now, we have given them everything upfront and they should deliver.

“If today they get to the final, the World Cup money will be shared 50-50 between the team and the NFF.

“Winning the final is 48 million dollars, it means the team will get 24 million dollars and the football house will take the remaining 24 million dollars,” Pinnick said.

He also spoke on the arrangement of grade A friendlies for the Super Eagles ahead of the world cup. Nigeria is expected to play England and Czech before the Mundial.

Pinnick added that the glass house had already secured 2.8 million dollars to pay the players allowances and bonuses during the mundial.

“We are ready to play against England on June 2 in London in an international friendly. We had a conclusive meeting with the England FA.

“After the England match, we will play Czech Republic and from there we move to Russia. As it is everything is going on very well.

“For the world cup, I don’t think we have any problem, I am in touch with the technical committee. It is the desire of every Nigerian to see the Super Eagles do well at the World Cup.

“We had a meeting with the team, we signed a contract with them and ready to pay them 20 per cent of eight million dollars which is what is accrued to us for the World Cup.

“At the end of the day it amounts to 2.8million dollars which will go to the players. The money is almost 100 per cent ready,” Pinnick added

Manchester City Signs Deal With Dating App, Tinder

English Premier League leaders Manchester City have swiped right on a unique deal with dating app Tinder, both organisations said on Thursday.
A day after a 3-0 loss to Liverpool in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, Manchester City announced the signing of a multi-year partnership with Tinder.
Reports in the British media claim the deal is worth millions of pounds.
The commercial deal will see the dating app team up with the club’s men’s and women’s sides along with sister club New York City FC.

“Tinder is a huge global platform which, just like football, is bringing millions of people together every day all around the world,” City Football Group’s Chief Commercial Officer Tom Glick said in a statement on the club’s website.
“Football is all about a community of fans, sharing moments, emotions and passion for the sport they love.
“Together with Tinder, we have a great opportunity to explore how we can combine Tinder’s significant appeal and reach with our global audience… We believe this will be a perfect match for Tinder and for City.”

Tinder is a dating app owned by Match Group Inc.
It marked the beginning of the partnership by flying a blimp in City’s club colours — light blue and white — along with logos of both organisations in Manchester on Thursday.
The app has also changed its social media icons to match the club’s colours to show support ahead of City’s potential league title-clinching derby against bitter rivals Manchester United on Saturday.

“Football is a sport where anything can happen at any moment,” Tinder’s VP Partnerships David Wyler said.
